Block does not show content

As you can see in the example page – the Smart Slider Gutenberg block no longer shows content on the frontend. It looks fine in the editor, but nothing shows on the frontend. This worked up until recently and no real changes have occurred in the custom theme. Tried updating the plugin to the latest version 3.3.25 from 3.3.24 but no luck.

The code the block spits out on the frontend is just an empty div

No JS or PHP errors.

Any ideas?

Hi @jseltzer!

It is possible, that there is an output buffer error in a code on your website, which stops PHP codes from running and outputs the HTML code before all PHP codes could finish. Please install this plugin into your site:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/output-buffer-tester/
then check your website like this:
https://foundation.inova.org/our-focus/meet-our-starkid-ambassadors/?ob-test=1
If there is an output buffer error, this should write out an error log. Please let me know once this plugin is installed and you see an error; then we will take a look too and tell you where the problem seems to be coming from.

Hi @jseltzer

I don’t see any errors logged, either. Unfortunately, there are cases when the output buffer issue is so messed up that our Output Buffer Tester plugin can’t detect it.

Can you try running a plugin/theme conflict test? You can do it like this: https://smartslider3.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1569-how-to-do-a-plugin-theme-conflict-test
That should help ruling out what causes the problem.

Hi Ramona,

Thanks for the quick response – it does actually appear to be a theme issue, so we’ll have to solve it. You usually see this as an output buffer issue? We use Sage as the starting point for our themes – have you run into this issue with Sage?
