• I have been using the WordPress block editor for a while and I like it and use it in all my posts. I’ve also used it for putting in a link to other related WordPress pages. The problem with that is that the Block Editor for links to other WordPress pages addes a lot of extra overhead that slows down page loading. For example, for each page linked, it provides the featured image from the page as well as an excerpt of what’s on the page and other information. That looks nice but I think it slows down page loading a lot. I have tried using AMP to speed up my page loading and it simplifies all of these and replaces it with a simple link; however, AMP causes other problems with my sites.

Is there an easy alternative to using the WordPress Block Editor for linking to other pages that will not create so much overhead to slow down page loading. Of course, I know that I can just create a page link in HTML but I would prefer to use the Block Editor. I just don’t want to incur all the overhead that it provides.

    THanks,

I think I now know what I need to do but I don’t know how to do it. I think the appropriate solution is to create a lightweight version of the wp-block-embed class that is considerably simplified and doesn’t have as much overhead. Has anyone successfully done this?
