Some of my Otter sections are no longer editable. I’m getting the ‘this block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed’ message. When I inspect the page, one of the errors I am seeing is a ‘block with API version 2 or lower is deprecated since version 6.9’ error. I am getting this for Otter, Jetpack, and megamenu. There are also ‘css was added to the iframe incorrectly’ and I assume those are related? I am not technical or a developer so I have no idea how to fix this.

Any advice on what I should do? I need to be able to edit this website!

    Best,

    Amy

    Hi Amy,

I’m sorry to hear you’re running into these block errors.

The errors you’re seeing—specifically the “API version 2” and “CSS added to iframe” messages—usually happen when there is a slight “miscommunication” between the latest version of WordPress and your plugins.

To get your Otter sections back to normal, please try these steps in order:

    1. Check for Updates: Go to Dashboard > Updates. Ensure that WordPress, Otter Blocks, Jetpack, and your Menu plugin are all updated to their latest versions.
    2. Clear Your Cache: If you use a caching plugin (like WP Rocket or LiteSpeed) or a CDN (like Cloudflare), clear all caches. Sometimes the browser tries to load an “old” version of a block that no longer works.
    3. The “Recovery” Click: On the broken block in your editor, you might see a button that says “Attempt Block Recovery.” Give that a click; it can often re-sync the block’s code automatically.
    4. Conflict Test: Since you’re seeing this across Otter, Jetpack, and Megamenu, it’s possible one specific plugin is causing a “domino effect.” If the steps above don’t work, try temporarily deactivating Jetpack and Megamenu to see if Otter becomes editable again https://docs.themeisle.com/article/1112-theme-doesnt-work-as-expected-troubleshooting-guide

    Kind regards,
    Rodica
