    Dear support,

We do have an issue. The plugin locked out a user from signing in (check email below).
Furthermore, when We tried to login to unlock the user, we saw a page saying that we were temporarily locked out as well. We found a workaround but this is not how it should work. Why did we get locked out ( we do have different ip address).

Can you please advise? Any help would be much appreciated.

We received an email saying that:
    User IP: xxx.xx.x83.67
    User hostname: ec2-xxx-xx-x83-67.eu-west-1.compute.amazonaws.com
    User location: Dublin, Ireland

The image below shows all users to have the same ip address which that is not true

  • Hi @darko22,

Can you go into Wordfence -> All Options, and see what How does Wordfence get IPs is set as?

What do you see for the detected IP?

Let Wordfence use the most secure method to get visitor IP addresses. Prevents spoofing and works with most sites. (Recommended)

This is what I have selected
the ip i am getting is the same.

    if i use the X-forwarded…
i get the correct IP address. Shall i use that one?

    Hi again,

I’m thinking that your server is behind a proxy or CDN, so you must use a different method of obtaining the IP address.

In your case, using X-forwarded returns the correct IP address, so use that one and it should stop locking out innocent users from logging in.
