Bottom Widgets

SO why is there no setting to format the placement of information into these widgets? I want them to be top aligneds but darned if I can find where this setting is or how to make it happen. The code I put inside the widgets doesn’t seem to effect anything inside of it. Sure could use some assistance, this looks like C&@#.
I would turly like to avoid having to buy a plugin so please keep that in mind. This kind of thing should be native to the sytem and not have to be a “plugin” function I think. Just MHO
