Sidenote: I saw you had an answer to another person that involved installing the development version, so I tried that, but still no luck 🙁
I deactivated the plugin and was able to make my sidebars, so now I activated it again.

I checked this and the cause for the conflict was a constant listener for AJAX calls in the admin, which is only needed on post edit screens.
I think that it should be fixed in the development version (download from https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/ultimate-fields/developers/). Please check this. I did that, but most probably there is a standard scenario that I hadn’t considered and there might still be some bugs.
