Bricksy: Duplicate Templates – Child Theme?

    Hi,

    I learned that by now it’s not possible to duplicate a template (e.g. the template “Front Page”) in order to edit the copy and leave the original untouched. I’m only allowed to “reset” which would delete everything I adapted and I would have to begin from scratch. Maybe, future versions of WP will offer this option…

    So, for now, does it make sense to have a Child Theme in order to always have the original version to look at? Would this be a good approach?

    Alright, I now understand, how this is working. So, the Front Page is built with different blocks which I have access to via the patterns options. This helps me already, thank you… 😉

    Hi Maria,

    if you are using templates and you edit a template and save it and want to go back to the original one, you can reset it. This is a very useful video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A24qWLxoIRs

    In case you don’t want to mess with the templates Bricksy has everything created as block patterns and block pages. You can create all of your pages just by using those. You can access them via the patterns options. You can change colors, text, layouts easily this way.

    I’m understanding now that e.g. your template “Front Page” is just created by different “pattern blocks”, so if I previously skipped some blocks of this template I can get them back later if I decide that I need them after all.
    Slowly I’m getting to like this FSE stuff 😉
