Kept getting ISE error upon download and support tried to convince me to store the files outside of WP which doesn’t hide the URL. What is the point of selling digital products if anyone can easily steal them? Couldn’t get a straight answer out of them and wasted entirely too much time trying to get this plugin to work. Switched.

  • I’m assuming this is the ticket you opened on our other forums: https://easydigitaldownloads.com/support/topic/internal-server-error/

We really did try to help you.

Files stored outside of WordPress (outside of the webroot) are completely inaccessible from ANY URL. Period. The only way to access them is via the server, which is why they are completely secure that way. I’m sorry this was not made more clear and that there was misunderstanding.

I tried to mention multiple times that that wasn’t a valid solution. 1. My client doesn’t know how to use FTP and needs to upload via WP. 2. I’m on a shared server. There is no where on the server outside of WP that is secure enough that I can get to. I said this several times and it just felt like you weren’t reading. Instead I got a lesson in FTP.

I’m sorry we had miscommunication. Looking back over the ticket, I’m certain I mis interpreted your comfort with FTP and your client’s comfort with FTP.

If at anytime you choose to give it another try, I’m more than happy to help in whatever way I can.
