• Installed 4.3 fresh. When I upload images I get broken icons. Check the media library, images are broken there too. Click edit image and I can see it in the editor. Check my permissions and they are all okay.. Whats up guys?

  • I have the same problem, still unresolved. Am on WP 4.3.1, have done several clean installs, tested several browsers and OS:s, same problem throughout.

I have been unable to use WP for almost two weeks now, and am now seriously considering moving several sites I’m responsible for to SquareSpace even it would seriously compromise both design and functionality.

Any word about a fix? This is a deal breaking bug.

I’m having a similar problem. My images are only broken on the front page but when I check my media library they aren’t broken. Very confused and have been reading about this all day!

Just downloaded 4.3.1 and I’ve cleaned most of my site so far.

Agreed that his bug is deal breaking. I’ve been using WP since 2011 and it would be such work to switch to a whole new site…

    Hi lili_clement,

I’ve managed to solve this issue. It turned out that the problem was caused by a faulty (scripted) WP installation which hadn’t created the .htaccess-file.

Apparently this file is sometimes not created until you’ve been logged in as admin and have set permalinks settings, and sometimes it goes missing altogether.

My sysadmin knew about this and corrected the installation – now it all works as intended, no thanks to this support forum though…

If anyone i having similar problems, I hope this helps:

I had the same problem with WordPress 4.4

I restored a backup to WordPress 4.3.1, and the symptom remains.

I recreated permalinks, and the issue remains.
