Hi, I have an issue reported in the past but still not resolved. Maybe for misunderstanding but, first at all, thank you for this useful and wonderful extension!

When a broken link is detected and past a while an email is sent to inform about the broken link.
    In this email are indicated:

    1. The link who is broken (www.brokenlink.ext)
    2. The internal WordPress source link where the content is broken (www.wordpresssite.ext/wp-admin/post.php?…..)
    3. The internal WordPress page where check all broken links (www.wordpresssite.ext/wp-admin/admin.php?….)

I need have also the public link where the content is broken, this is not present in the email.
    For example (www.wordressite.ext/post123/)

Could you please implement this or help me to add this on the email template?

All links in the broken email alert are internal, not visible if there is no authentication. This forbid me from a quick check even in the situation where I cannot login immediately.

If I create the post123 where inside a http://www.brokenlink.ext is present, in the alert email I expect to be informed also the broken link is present at the public page http://www.wordpressiste.ext/post123

    Thank you!

    Hi @peopleinside,

Trust you are doing good and thank you for reaching out to us.

Thank you for reaching out. I want to make sure I’ve correctly understood your question. Could you please confirm if you are specifically trying to identify broken backlinks pointing to your site from other websites? If that’s the case, I’d like to clarify that the Broken Link Checker plugin is designed to scan and detect broken links within your own WordPress website. It does not have the capability to identify broken backlinks coming from external websites.

However, we offer a cloud-based Broken Backlink checker. Please find more about the same here: https://wpmudev.com/docs/hub-2-0/link-checker/#backlinks

Please feel free to get back to us if you need any further clarification.

    Best Regards,
    Nebu John

Hi, thank you for your reply!

The issue is that in the broken email alert there is not indicated the public URL of my blog where the link has been detected broken. All internal links in the alert email require authentication except for the external broken link that is indicated.

I expect and need to know the public article or page URL where the broken link has been detected on my blog. Broken link indicate just internal links that require authentication so are not public link.

If in a page or article a broken link is detected I expect and need to be alerted by email (as is happen now) but also with the public link source where this broken content has been detected.

Actually the link to the article is not a public article link but a private one that require autentication.

    Hello @peopleinside

At this moment, the BLC emails contain the edit link for source URLs, I will inform our Broken Link Checker team regarding your request however, since we don’t have any options to change that, I can’t provide an ETA.

It will be considered as a feature request. You may subscribe to our roadmap to get notified about the new updates.

So at the moment there is no solution to have the public link in the alert email?
This is bad and I hope in a solution for the future. I receive alert but if I’m not signed I cannot check directly the public page. Thanks 🙂

    Hello @peopleinside

I’m afraid that at this moment, there is no way or workaround to change the behavior of the emails that BLC sends. As mentioned, we informed our developers so they can improve this.

    Kind regards,
    Jair.
