• I placed a link to the above post on my Facebook page, something I do regularly. When I go to my site’s POSTS page, that post it appears right at the top as new posts always do. When I click on the post title, instead of going to the post’s page I get the following message:

    {“version”:”20210219″,”show_thumbnails”:false,”show_date”:true,”show_context”:true,”layout”:”grid”,”headline”:”Related”,”items”:[]}

    This doesn’t happen if I’m logged into my site (marschallarts.org) in the same browser, but since my friends saw the link to the above post on Facebook, tried it and let me know it didn’t work, I tried clicking on the link using a browser where I wasn’t signed into my blog, and that’s when I got the above message.

    This is the first time this has happened — any idea what I’ve done wrong and how I can fix this issue?

    Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

  • Hi @marschallarts! It appears that recently you or some plugin have changed the permalink structure on your blog from <site>/<date>/<title> to <site>/<title>. So, to go to the linked page, instead of writing
    (1) https://marschallarts.org/2021/03/24/an-anthem-for-our-times/
    you now need to write
    (2) https://marschallarts.org/an-anthem-for-our-times/
    If this is the change you want, you can use a plugin to redirect the old links to the new links, so that a user who has the first link can be redirected to the page at the second link. You will probably not retain the social share counts for your old posts.

    It you do not want to change the permalink structure, you can go to Settings->Permalinks and change the permalink structure to the one you used previously.

    Thanks for your help, Olga. (Also, apologies to James Huff (@macmanx) for the duplicate post; I’m new to this forum and was trying to re-word my issue in case I hadn’t been precise about it in the first query (this one). Sorry about that!

    I did change the permalink structure to https://marschallarts.org/an-anthem-for-our-times/ and it still doesn’t work. I’ve randomly checked older posts and all seem to work except this one. I’ll try to post something new or re-post that one with a different post title and see if that solves the problem…unless you have a better suggestion.

    Thanks again for your support and your patience.

    Hi @marschallarts! Sorry for the delay in reply. I tried to find that post on your blog, but I couldn’t find it. Could you have deleted it, or made it a draft (unpublishded)? Other posts seem to work fine with the new permalink structure.

    Thanks, Olga. I did take down the post after repeated issues with it. Good to know that the other posts work. Hopefully I won’t have the problem with future posts. If I do, I’ll let you know. Thanks for following up!
