Broken style sheet missing

WP site message “Broken Theme: Stylesheet is missing.”
I deleted, and could not install:
“The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme install failed.”

You can delete it by connecting to your server via FTP, and deleting the “ignite” folder from your server (wordpress/wp-content/themes/ignite).
Then you can log into your site and reinstall and activate Ignite. You won’t lose any of your settings during this process.
Were you updating Ignite, or initially installing it?
Hi,
I have been using Ignite for a couple of months. I just went to my site to work. Front end was blank yesterday. In the theme management page – a WP message said that the “Theme Broken – style sheet is missing”.
WP substituted 2015.Next – I deleted the Ignite Theme.
Next – I went through the admin, and tried to install.
WP message: “Theme is missing style sheet – install failed”Note: I have several themes installed without issues, so I don’t think it’s local.
Okay can you try downloading the Ignite zip file from it’s page here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/themes/ignite/
Then upload the zip file (like this) rather than using the theme search.
As you can see from the download, the stylesheet is definitely included (it wouldn’t have passed review otherwise). I think the issue may be related to the recent updates to the repository.
Thank you!
I downloaded the zip and tried to install it. Did not work.
Maybe something is wrong with my MultiSite install? I have 32 themes.“Installing Theme from uploaded file: ignite.1.45.zip
Unpacking the package…Installing the theme…
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme install failed.”
Still, thanks for responding and your help.
Sure, thanks for getting back to me. I have Ignite on a multisite install right now, but I will investigate that configuration more to see if I can recreate the issue.
The last install method to try is to upload the Ignite theme via FTP. For this, you want to unzip the ignite.1.45.zip file first. Then, upload the ignite folder directly into the themes folder on your server. This should bypass the part of the install process that has been failing thus far.
Ah! That is good information to have anyway. I will try that too. Thank you for the clear instructions, I had no idea how to do that.
It is strange in that I have had that theme installed for a while, and it just suddenly had an issue. Overnight. Likely something weird with my WP installation.
Yea no problem! Let me know how the last method works for you.
Rats! Something must be wrong with my WP.
I got the same thing after FTP. “Missing Style Sheet”
In the folder there are 8 CSS files in sets of 2:
one regular and one with .min
2 admin-widgets
2 gallery
2 one-five
2 resetOkay I keep Ignite’s code on Github, so you can compare the folder with Ignite here: https://github.com/BenSibley/ignite/tree/master
There should be two stylesheets in the root folder: style.css and style.min.css. There are more stylesheets in the /styles directory and library/css directory, but I don’t think they are involved with the error.
The “missing style sheet” error should be referring specifically to the style.css file in the root folder (ignite/style.css). Is that file present on your server right now?
I have in the root folder:
in ignite/…
assets/
library/
header.php
screenshotNo CSS files the ignite main folder, or in the file I downloaded and unzipped on my desktop.
I looked at the github, I don’t see “style.css” or “style.min.css” in my files at all.
That is so strange. Okay, download a fresh copy from Ignite’s page here on the repository. Then, immediately check to make sure it has the same files as the Github version.
If it does, delete Ignite from your server again, and upload the copy you just downloaded. Then verify that the files have been added successfully to your server in the wp-content/themes/ directory.
Okay. I when I get back to me PC. And I will update you then.
I have not uploaded, but it looks like everything is there!
Working fine! It is active.
Thank you so very much. My site (I have 6) is minimal – a notebook that I use almost daily. It was very difficult to find a theme. Nothing else I saw was like yours.
Thanks for your theme and help.
Cheers
Toni
