BuddyPress users integration

Hi!
I am looking at several mapping plugins to try and work out which would be the best for me. I want to create a new feature on a website where Buddypress members can use a map to find other members near them.
I see that if I go into the Users from the WP dashboard I can assign a location on the map at the bottom, but to make it easy for users I’d like the incorporated with the web front-end. I’ve not been able to work out whether this is easy to do with the GeoMashup plugin? Do you have a link that shows how to do this?
