• It works, BUT If you need to set up Google Tag Manager, you HAVE TO install Google analytics first. If you have Google analytics also set up in GTM, there is a double implementation of the measure code and the Google Tag Assistant extension tells you: Same web property ID is tracked twice. If I have delete the Google analytics Tage, there is another error message there: No Google Analytics HTTP responses because opted out code detected. Please update the application, and it will be fine!

@tom284 Apologies for the delayed response, and thanks for the review and feedback. We are looking at ways to improve the setup experience between Analytics and Tag Manager. You’ll find out more below:
    https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/1380

In relation to the Tag Manager assistant Chrome extension this is something we’ve been in contact with that team about. It’s not something we can address on our side and future versions of the extension should address this false alert.

For the “opted out code detected” message this may be due to you having logged in users not counted for tracking purposes. This is the default behaviour not to consider logged in traffic but you can always change this configuration within the plugin settings.
