Hi @kasalingo,
This warning references the Jetpack file that handles host status checks, but it’s likely not an issue with Jetpack itself. The dns_get_record() function failed to retrieve DNS information because the DNS server responded with a temporary error – in other words, this is an issue with the DNS infrastructure or server we tried to contact.
I recommend reaching out to your host about this, but I do want to reassure you that warnings like this aren’t the same as errors – they generally aren’t going to be outright harmful to your site. You can even disable them from showing on the frontend of your site. For guidance on this, you could use your favorite search engine for “guidance on “How to hide PHP warnings in WordPress”.
Good luck!
Alright thanks. The error cleared automatically.
I have the same issue after updating and can’t get into my dashboard but the site is still working. I have WordFence 2FA turned on but am getting:
CODE INVALID: The 2FA code provided is either expired or invalid. Please try again.
(It’s not expired.)
I have no idea how to fix this.

Hi @slywy,
Thanks for jumping in here! The issue you’re describing, trouble logging in due to a 2FA code being rejected, seems to be different from the original report in this thread, which was just a temporary PHP warning.
To make sure we can look into this properly and give you the best help, could you please open a new support topic with all the details? That will help us (or the Wordfence team) follow up directly with you and avoid confusion across issues. You can do that here:

Thanks you! We’ll keep an eye out for your new topic!
My bad. They happened at the same time, so assumed related. I couldn’t get into dashboard because my phone was set to the day before, so authenticator didn’t work. Still getting the message posted in first message: Warning: dns_get_record(): DNS Query failed in /usr/home/web/users/xyzabc/html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/jetpack_vendor/automattic/jetpack-status/src/class-host.php on line 153
Hi @slywy,
Thanks for your reply — and totally understandable to assume they were related!
However, per the forum guidelines, we ask everyone to open a new topic unless they’re absolutely sure the problem is identical (same setup, hosting, plugins, etc). Even if things look similar, the root cause is often different, and keeping issues separate helps us provide better, faster support without confusing multiple users.
Would you mind opening a new thread for the issue you’re seeing now? You can do that here:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/jetpack/#new-topic-0
Once you post it, we’ll jump in and help right away. Thanks so much for your understanding!
