Unfortunately I came across some strange behaviour. You might reproduce the following:
I installed a new WP, created some example posts, using the standard theme Twenty Fifteen showing them fully on the homepage which i don’t like. I discovered this plug-in, installed it, made all kind of settings, but nothing happened, not on homepage, not an an archive page.
To isolate the bug, I switched to Twenty Fourteen, where it worked, went back to 2015, where now it also worked.
Then I changed 40 characters to 40 words, but it doesn’t apply, it still shows 40 characters.

Something’s wrong here obviously, and I hope you can reproduce and fix it. It is a wonderful and super useful plug-in, it just doesn’t seem to work properly as I expect a correct behaviour. It’s a fresh installation, so no cache plug-ins are in use, even if the behaviours feels a bit like cache stuff.
