Hello i have used a complete site redirect to my site which is still at a different host (webnode) while my actual domain name is at a new host where i also want my new website. This is also where my email is hosted.

I can log in on my wordpress site but whenever i want to preview any pages it gets redirected to the webnode site because i did a complete redirect.

So the /wp-login is not redirected to the other site but anything else is. I hoped it would be relatively simple to redirect my whole site and then slowly build/learn a wordpress site in the background and when its complete just lift the redirect and Tadaaaa new website.

I have very little experience with this. Could anyone point me in the right direction ?

    Kind regards Oliver

I’m not sure I understand the situation. If you have redirected your site then it will always redirect. In what way are you expecting this to be different?

Hi John, I was hoping for a way to build the site in the background because i dont know wordpress yet. If its not possible then its not possible.

I didnt expect something to be different, i dont know. It just seemed possible that if i can log in on the wordpress site which is not on the other server why couldnt i build the site and preview it. Just seemed possible.

Kinda like a detour while we are building the new house and then when the house is build no more detour but the new house.

    Ill ask around some more.

I understand building a website in the background, but it seems like you’ve put the redirect in the wrong place when it’s not needed. If you are building a new site then build that site, and when it is ready you can redirect the old site to the new one.
