Built-in permalink rewrite not working

I don’t have access to mod_rewrite on my sever. It appears that the built-in URL re-writer is getting confused when it has to deal witih resolving post permalinks.

It can’t differentiate between posts and their categories and pages and their parent pages, with the result being that I cannot view posts.

“News” and “Events” are post categories. The rest are pages. You’ll see that it is not possible to view posts, only post summaries.
