Hi @trafficwkze,
Sorry that you ran into issues with this!
I’m not sure I totally understand the issue you’re having. Looking at those two pages, both seem to have reasonable formats for their respective page type.
On this page: https://981kze.com/dir/acoustic-music/
I see that your page has room for a sidebar. That’s a choice of the page you used–you can have several types of pages in most themes (this is controlled by the theme, not by BD). “Default” usually means a sidebar on the right, but not always. You probably want the page for BD (in your case, I think it’s the /dir page) to be “Full Width” and that should get rid of the excess right side space.
Try that and let me know if you run into more issues.
If I knew how to post a screenshot I’d show that in my view, and I’ve checked on different PCs and browsers, the text on the right is cut off. As if the text box is hidden behind some other invisible object. It only happens in full screen. If I shrink the screen a little I can see all the text. It’s as if resizing the screen changes the format of the page and moves that invisible object out of the way.
What I think is happening is the “image rotator widget” which displays rotating ads on almost every other page on our website, is somehow on these pages, too, but it’s invisible and messing up the other formatting. Maybe I should move my question over to that widget forum?
If you’re having an issue with another plugin causing this behavior, then yes, that would be appropriate. If you can demonstrate that this issue happens with just our plugin enabled on a default theme, then we can continue the discussion here.
Here is an article about how to test for theme and plugin conflicts with Business Directory, which may help pinpoint the issue: http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/support-forum/faq/how-to-check-for-plugin-and-theme-conflicts-with-bd/
Hi,
I’m returning to this line of inquiry as I have since realized that my BD pages don’t contain any widgets, and I think you’re onto something with the sidebar. I’ve checked that my Directory page is “full-width, no sidebar”, and it is. But already on the categories page the side bar is there.

I do need that sidebar on all other pages on the website, but it’s not fomatting correctly with BD. Any suggestions on how to edit the page layout within BD? I can read/edit (but not write original) html code so feel free to offer that as a solution. Thank you so much!
Hi @trafficwkze,
Hmmm. Sounds like your theme is rendering category pages slightly differently than it renders the main directory page. Because we’re a custom post type, we have WP types like “post” and “category” in our information, and some themes react to that by showing a different page. It’s something controlled by the theme, not us.
However, there is a workaround. You can go under Directory Admin->Manage Options, General, Advanced tab and turn on “Disable Advanced CPT Integration?” and that will force the shortcode to render things the “old way”
Other than that, you can try a different theme but most folks really like their theme so that’s what’s available for you here…
Try that and let me know if you run into more issues.
