    I need to import several hundred members to a member site and would like the Bulk Activate & Notify message to tell each member their username and initial password. I have created duplicate messages in the Settings section – one for adding a member manually and one for Bulk Activate and Notify. Adding a member manually generates the correct email notification with all variables filled with the correct data. Importing a group and then generating the Bulk Activate and Notify option generates emails for each member but the variables appear in the message instead of the appropriate data. I assume this works fine since I found no other complaints, so please tell me what other setting I need to adjust to make this functional. Here is an example:

    Dear {first_name} {last_name},

    An account has been created for you on the Lost Tree Chapel web site and on the Southeast Florida Library Association’s Online Library so that you may enjoy the ebook and audio book collections that have been provided to you by the Library Committee.

    Your login information is the same for both accounts:

    Username is: {user_name}
    Initial password is: {password}

    We hope you take advantage of this new resource for your summer reading.

    Please login to the Chapel web site at: http://www.losttreechapel.org

    Hi, in regards to the following comment. Can you provide the variables that appear in the message instead of the data?

    They were included in the original message – the first and last names, username and password.

    I’ve come to the conclusion that the Bulk message is currently fixed and cannot accommodate user specific information.

    Hopefully this will be added at some point.

    Hi please check the following documentation. It lets you know what shortcodes are currently allowed to be used with e-mails.

    Thank you, but my initial question remains. The short codes are not working in the Bulk Activate and Notify email.

    I think it is revealing that all the default email messages contain short codes except that one. It would be very nice if it would so new members could be added in bulk.

    Okay I understand. The plugin developers will investigate further your issue.

    Thank you

    Are the developers working on this? Or do I need to find another Membership Plugin?

    The bulk activate and notify feature uses a BATCH processing concept to reduce any performance hit on the site for processing many requests in one go.

    So we do not offer any option to have individual member’s details be dynamically replaced in that batch processing as it will only make the matter worse on sites with many users.

    Only a plain text email is allowed for that bulk notify option. We need to do what is best for the majority of our users.

    If you need to include individual member’s details in there then please use a different plugin that has this option.
