Bulk Delete Infected Files

I have a website that has been infected with malware. It functions fine but there are 2169 files that are critical because of the malware code. If I select to delete ALL the files the website crashes with “There has been a critical error on this website”. So I am backing up the website and deleting them one by one – then checking the website and continuing the process.

Is there ANY way to bulk delete files? Then I could delete 500 at a time… and do a backup until I find the one file that is causing the website to crash when it is removed.

This seems a simple request and most scanners provide this, but I notice it has been ignored down the years by the WordFence team. Is this because it is in the Pro version? If it is not in the Pro version either, why not?

Hello @simplyit and thanks for reaching out to us!

It sounds like what you’re suggesting is having a sort of way to tick each result that you know can be deleted, sort of with a checkbox and have the ability to select groups of files then hit a “Delete Selected Files” button to have them cleared out.

I think this is a great idea and will pass this along to our dev/QA team for review. If they like it, they will schedule it to be added in a future release.

Currently, the way you’re doing it is the best way to do it.

Yes havinng a check box (and a select ALL) option for hundreds of malware deletes would be perfect
