• Hi!

I have about 4500 product on my site. I need to replace Category name for 1000 products. So I open Products page, click Screen option and set posts to show to 50. Then “check all” -> Bulk Actions -> Edit -> Apply.
Here I set the right category name and click Save.
After long long time I’m receiving 404 error, Page not found. Nothing changed in database.

    What I tried:
    1. Increasing of max_input_vars up to 13000, memory_limit up to 256 MB, POST size to 105 MB.
    2. Deactivating ALL plugins except Woocommerce.
    3. Activating default theme.
    4. Server reboot
    5. WP_DEBUG. There are only errors about “Table ‘wp_postmeta’ is marked as crashed and should be repaired”.
    6. Repairing and optimization of MySQL database (it didn’t solve the problem, SOMETIMES the error occurs again).
    7. Query plugins shows ~60 slow SQL queries on any woocommerce backend page. Most of them are “update_meta_cache()”.
    8. error_reporting(E_ALL); shows no errors at all.
    9. Editing .htaccess as said here: http://techsalsa.com/solved-404-error-after-update-or-save-post-in-wordpress/
    10. Changing utf8mb4_unicode_ci of wp_postmeta to utf8_unicode_ci.

Have anyone any ideas how to fix this error?

    Thanks!

Servers can time out if you try to bulk edit too many products at once. There really isn’t a way to say what that limit would be as it varies per server.

If you need a way to update thousands of products, look into the CSV import extensions or WP ALL Import.

    Thanks Mike!

I set max_execution_time and max_input_time to 6000 but it doesn’t help. I’m retrieving 404 error after 2 minutes of awaiting.

Also it takes about 70 sec to Edit three products using Bulk Edit. Is it OK? I think it is because of a lot of Attributes (~25 per each product).

    Attributes cannot be bull edited..

I do not edit Attributes, I try to change Category name of products with Attributes.

I’m not sure what you mean. Can you share a screenshot?

Sorry, it was a little bit confusing.

    Again:
    1. I have 100 products selected.
    2. I need to change category of them.
    3. Bulk Edit doesn’t work: 404 error after a long awating.

    1. I have 3 products selected.
    2. I need to change category of them.
    3. Bulk Edit takes about 70 sec to do this. 70 sec to change the category for 3 product! I think it is not OK.

How to increase speed of Bulk Edit?

    Here is screenshot

    Thanks again!

I think I solved the problem. I noticed that MySQL tables is of MyISAM type partially. I changed it to the InnoDB.

It works significantly faster! It was 70 s to load but now it takes not more than 5 second to load without any caching.

Hope it is the only one reason of slow work in my case.

    Good catch.
