I am newbie to plugin and have the following problem when doing bulk edits with media library jpeg images using MLA bulk edit facility. I am sure it is my settings, but do not understand how to make adjustments to this plugin.

When I do mla bulk edits on jpeg images, all the fields are empty (even if data inserted previously.
If am forced to use WP default Media edit in order to insert text in ‘Desc’, ‘Alt’, & ‘Caption’ fields
If I then re edit the same image in MLA edit then the desc, alt and caption fields are still blank.
If I edit an image Desc, Alt & Caption fields in MLA adding data, then the date does not appear when re-editing in WP defaut edit.
It is not mapped correctly to my needs.

I need to use the WP default fields Desc, Alt & Caption for data as these are the important fields which are published beneath images and are also read by SEO robots.

I did try to export my settings for this query, but could find the output file location.

Thank you for your question and for the details on the trouble you are having.

The MLA Bulk Edit and Quick Edit features are a core part of the plugin. There are no Settings/Media Library Assistant options that you need to change in order to use them. You wrote “I did try to export my settings for this query, but could find the output file location.” For future reference, you can find the settings export files in your site’s /wp-content/mla-backup/ folder.

You wrote “When I do mla bulk edits on jpeg images, all the fields are empty“. I want to make sure I understand what you are experiencing. When you write “bulk edit” I understand that to mean you are going to the Media/Assistant admin submenu screen, selecting one or more items, selecting “Edit” from the Bulk Actions dropdown and clicking “Apply”. You enter some text in the “Caption”, “Description” and “ALT Text” fields and then click “Update” in the lower right corner of the area. Is that right?

When you click “Update” do you see the Bulk Edit Waiting/In-process/Complete text boxes? In the Complete text box do the items show “unchanged” or “success”? Do you see the Waiting/Complete/Unchanged/Succeeded/Failed” counts at the bottom of the area? What do they show?

You wrote “If I edit an image Desc, Alt & Caption fields in MLA adding data …” Do you mean the Bulk Edit area? Have you tried the “Quick Edit” rollover action on one or more items? Does that work?

Have you visited the Settings/Media Library Assistant IPTC/EXIF tab and made any changes there? If so, what changes have you made. It is possible (but not likely) that a change there might contribute to your problem.

I did a quick test on my own system and both the Bulk Edit and Quick edit functions are working there. Any further details you can provide will be very helpful.

It has been over a month since my last post in this topic. I assume you have found a solution to the problem.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if there is anything else I can do to help.

Sorry for not confirming back. Your response confirmed there was no issue with MLA bulk edit. It was simply my lack of understanding of gui. I have a full grip now.
    Thanks
