Bulk load events

I am migrating a fairly good sized site to WP and would like to use EM to handle several hundred event dates our organization already has set. Some preliminary experiments with directly editing the database seem to have no results. Is there a function, third party app, or bit of tribal lore that I might find helpful? Thanks!

They are stored in a proprietary system (one reason why we are migrating) and I may or may not be able to get a clean export. However, we have most of the dates in the Excel worksheets that were used to set them in the first place. It would not be difficult to get the rest entered and clean CSV’s created.
I am about to get the pro version of All Import, which appears to be able to do this — although I am not sure yet.
