When I edit multiple media items with bulk edit with Media Library Assistant, even if, for instance, all the titles are the same, the title field will still appear blank in Media Library Assistant bulk editor until I completely re-title. I would prefer that since all the titles are already the same, the title field would appear with the existing title so I can more easily edit and not start over. It also seems impossible to delete the contents of an existing field with the bulk editor because it shows up blank even if there are contents.

The Media Assistant documentation is so vast, the answers to my questions may well be in there, but I wasn’t able to find them.

Thank you for your fantastic plugin, I have barely scratched the surface of it’s capabilities.

Thank you for your kind words about MLA and for your question.

In the Bulk Edit area, all of the fields and other controls are “blank” to separate the fields you want to change form the fields you want to leave alone. Your “all the titles are already the same” is one special case among many other special cases and I do not see any way to implement something like it in a way that everyone would understand and find useful. I do not plan to make any changes in this area.

I do, however, have come good news regarding your second observation – “impossible to delete the contents of an existing field“. I noticed this a while back and added the template:[+empty+] feature for standard fields like Caption in MLA version 1.95. It was extended to custom fields in MLA version 2.00.

If you enter template:[+empty+] in the Bulk Edit fields it will replace the field contents with an empty value in all of the selected items. I know that entering a Content Template for this purpose is a bit tedious, but it avoids confusion in the “change field/leave alone” logic. I hope you find it useful.

The template:[+empty+] feature is mentioned somewhere in the vast Documentation, but I wish it was easier to find. Thank you for taking the time to look for it!

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have any other problems or questions regarding the Bulk Edit area. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.
