also when I upload to the media library and it offloads to DO, its set as private and not public.
I can’t see a setting to change this?

Currently in our free version we providing offloading for new uploads only. The bulk syncing will be a PRO version feature and it is currently under development
In case private media in DO. We are not managing any bucket related permissions. If your objects are private then create a public endpoint for the space and add it in our provider settings.
Choose provider Other and enable CNAME and paste your public endpoint there
