I ran the Bulk Tagging Tool set at 50 items at a time, 1 second between. Posts are made via email through Postie plugin and there are two ‘types’ of posts which I want to have one specific different key word each. I have always had the “Baltimore City” tag automatically post without a problem when the item is published, but have never been able to get the “Anne Arundel County” tag to be assigned to the posts I want.

So, I decide to try and bulk tag them. The result has been every post has been duplicated 14 times. Baltimore City tagged posts all have the tag just like before, 12 of the 14 versions of the Anne Arundel County posts now have that tag where none had it before and the other 2 copies do not.

The 8x duplication of all posts goes back through posts made on 2/16/15. You can see how things looked before this if you view posts on 2/14/15 and earlier.

Thoughts? And am I left with having to manually delete the hundreds of duplicated posts?

P.S. (I edited this since when I first posted there were 8 duplicates of each post….now there are 14 and the plugin is not still running the bulk tool that I can see….so there may be more copies appearing, who knows?)

I have discovered the problem….it was with the Postie plugin. It was not deleting emails in the email account it posts from so it was posting the over and over. Sorry for wasting anyone’s time reading this!!!

No problem, glad to hear that you found what the problem was. APT is able to modify taxonomy terms only, so I would be really surprised if it was somehow responsible for post duplication.
