Button link to Windows App

About 4 months ago all of the links I had directing to the Steam client stopped working. I thought it was due to Steam, but since checking it seems to be a problem with Elementor or WordPress. When I add a button to my post and direct it to steam://openurl/**steamworkshopurl**. It won’t add the steam://openurl/ add replace it with my domain name. How can I get the link to work? Why did this change? Again not sure if this is a WordPress thing or Elementor thing, but what a hassle.
