Hi, are you running a cache plugin in your site?

    Regards.

Hi, Thanks a lot for your reply. Yes, I have Autoptimize with the following options set:

    Optimise HTML Code?

(no notes provided on this option)

Save aggregated script/CSS as static files?

[By default files saved are static CSS/JS, uncheck this option if your webserver doesn’t properly handle the compression and expiry.]

Minify excluded CSS and JS files?

[When aggregating JS or CSS, excluded files that are not minified (based on filename) are, by default, minified by Autoptimize, despite being excluded. Uncheck this option if anything breaks, despite excluding.]

    Enable 404 fallbacks?

[Sometimes Autoptimized JS/CSS is referenced in cached HTML, but is already removed, resulting in broken sites. With this option on, Autoptimize will try to redirect those not-found files to “fallback” versions, keeping the page/site somewhat intact. In some cases this will require extra web server level configuration to ensure wp-content/autoptimize_404_handler.php is set to handle 404s in wp-content/cache/autoptimize.]

Also optimise for logged in editors/administrators?

[By default, Autoptimize is also active for logged on editors/administrators, uncheck this option if you don’t want Autoptimize to optimise when logged in, e.g. to use a page builder.]

    Enable configuration per post/ page?

[Add a “metabox” to the post/ page edit screen allowing different optimizations to be turned off on a per post/ page level?]

    Thanks

    Hi,

Just for testing purposes, can you disable Autoptimize and clear your mobile device browser cache. Then carry out a test.

    Let me know what happens.

    Thank you.

Hello, Thank you for your reply and useful suggestion. I’ve done like you said and disabled Autoptimize. So far the issue I reported with the button disappearing on my mobile device has resolved! However, it was an intermittent issue so I probably should leave it a week to be sure. I will come back in a week and report. As it stands it looks as tho I may have to abandon Autoptimize for the sake of having CWAP working properly. A sacrifice worth making. Thanks a lot for your help.

    Hey all;
I’m the Autoptimize developer; as AO was configured to only minify HTML (and thus not touching CSS/ JS) it is very unlikely disabling AO will solve the (intermittent) problem?

    hope this helps,
    frank

Hi Frank, Really great to get your input! It would be really good if I could keep using Autoptimize. BTW how did you find the thread?

I get notification mails from ww.wp.xz.cn if Autoptimize is mentioned πŸ™‚

That’s very cool and clever! I’ll watch the thread with interest.

@thatllbetheday, sometimes plugins or the theme might cause issues. Try a plugin/theme conflict test. See if that helps you.

    Kind regards

How do I do that please? I have to use WordPress Twenty Seventeen. No choice. Thanks!

Hi, have you deleted the browser cache in your mobile device? Is your device up to date?

    Regards.

    (@thatllbetheday)

Hi, Yes I deleted the browser cache. My phone is a Huawei and I have the latest appropriate version of EMUI installed. The problem has not reappeared since I disabled Autoptimize as suggested. I think I need to give it a week total before I can say the issue has gone. Frank’s question is an interesting one tho. It would be nice to be able to use both apps together if poss. Maybe deactivating Autoptimize and the problem vanishing were just a coincidence. But if so I have no idea what fixed it!

    Hi,

If you decide to activate Autoptimize again, start by enabling a feature at a time and at the same run a test. I know this might be tedious but it will let you know which feature in Autoptimize might be causing the conflict.

    Kind regards.

    Hi,

The button just failed to render on my mobile despite me not reactivating Autoptimize. I think this eliminates Autoptimize as the cause. Do you have any other ideas please? Your plugin is so much more attractive for what I need it for than any of the alternatives I found. I would love to be able to get it to work consistently.

    Thanks

Thank you for reporting back. I have submitted a message to the developers to investigate further your issue.

    Kind regards.
