    Hello,

We encountered an error after installing an SSL certificate for one of our websites.

We had previously activated the Falcon Engine caching option and the next day we installed and configured the SSL certificate (Let’s Encrypt).
If a user hasn’t previously accessed the website then it would work fine, he would be redirected to the HTTPS version.
However, if a user has accessed the website before we installed the SSL certificate, then when accessing it now he would get an error, being redirected to https://domain/wp-content/wfcache/domain_/~~~~_wfcache.html_gzip and getting a 404 error. If he would clear the browser’s cache, then it would be ok, he would be redirected afterwards to the correct path with the HTTPS protocol.

Could you tell us what is the reason for this behaviour? Why would the users be redirected to the cache file mentioned above?

    Thank you

  • Did you clear your site cache through your hosting service? Could be an option…

    Hello,

No, we haven’t tried that, but we’ll look into it. However, is there any explanation for the error we encountered?

    Thank you.

    Hi risksoft,
It could be that “Allow SSL (secure HTTPS pages) to be cached” option under (Wordfence > Performance Setup => Cache Options) is not enabled by default, so I think your website is still serving the cached page version while it’s not actually there (after installing SSL), clearing the cache should fix this issue.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Thank you for your explanation. And yes, that might be the “culprit” :). We had solved the problem, is just that we were trying to understand where the error was coming from.

    Have a nice day,
