Hello. I recently installed UpdraftPlus to handle backups for two of my sites, and on the same day I set it up to back up to Google Drive, I noticed a drop in the cache hit rate on both sites. Does the plugin clear the cache before performing backups? I just want to know if this behavior is normal or if there’s a conflict with my caching/optimization plugin.

    Regards,

  • Hi there,

No, UpdraftPlus doesn’t interact with the cache. I’m uncertain as to whether there is a conflict.
Despite searching our resources I could not find anything related to the scenario you describe.
You could try a conflict test by temporarily disabling the plugin and monitoring for any change.

    Best regards,

Most caching plugins will clear their caches whenever you install a new plugin, in case that plugin changes page output (i.e. caching plugins generally assume that your cache is now all invalid). So you’re likely to see this each time you install or update a plugin.
