I’ve investigated my .htaccess file and can previous code left from older plug in, W3TC Browser Cache. This older plug in has been deleted from cPanel.
I’m unable to delete its code!? Is there a better way to remove/clean W3TC Browser Cache from stopping Hummingbird cache my browser?
Cheers,
Rick
Hi Rick,
When it comes to Browser Caching this is actually something that the server handles and Hummingbird, as well as W3TC, apply the .htaccess rules to tell the server to apply those browser caching, but it’s still up to server settings to allow those .htaccess rules.
So basically, even those are leftover rules from W3TC they should be still working if the server is allowing it.
You can check with your host if “expires” module is enabled on server and if they allow browser caching rules to be changed via .htaccess rules.
I’m unable to delete its code!?
Can you tell me a bit more about this, are you unable to edit your .htaccess file or something else is preventing you from deleting the code?
What you can also do is go to Hummingbird > Caching > Browser Caching panel and scroll down to “Setup” section, click on Manual tab and it will show you the rules that need to be added to .htaccess.
You can ask your host to replace W3TC rules in .htaccess with those and, if they allow .htaccess to change browser caching, it should do the trick.
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers,
