Calendar Help

Hi All,
I am needing some help with a calendar. I want to create a Shift calendar like the following on this site —> http://www.unioncentrics.com/index.cfm?section=1 (lower left)

The above calendar is a shift calendar and the background color of the day indicates which shift is on. The shift pattern doesn’t change once it is set so the the colors would be the same year after year.
I have 2 different shift patterns I am wanting to code in 2 different calendars:
My first shift is a 48 on 96 off.
So for 2 days it would be the same color(red) then the next set of two days it would be a different color (Green) then the next set of two days it would be another color (Blue)

My Second Shift is a 24 on 48 Off.
One day is Red, Second Day is Green, Third Day is Blue
I would just like to be able to select which days will be the start of the shift pattern.

How would be the best way to make this happen? I am not a coder but I can find and make changes if told where to do it.

I would like to still use the basic function of the events being added to the calendar. I am not concerned with the day being highlighted to show that there is an event for that day.
