I think there are several options:
– creating additional attributes
– changing translations on the front-end?
– example of adding field to the category page: https://www.businessbloomer.com/woocommerce-display-product-height-length-width-shop-page/
Thank you. I was thinking that “height” should be replaced by “length”, and saw it as a lack in WooCommerce. But then, the terms length, width, height do actually fit – in the case of cars, because they are “laying down” so the length is never confused with the height.
On a standing product like modern suit cases, I still hold the view that length, width, depth – are more suitable terms. As a conclusion: WooCommerce (and other webshop/developers) maybe should consider making a system-wise distinction between products that are normally standing up, and products that are laying down.
I can’t drop this subject, and ask any one who reads english: which dimension of a matchbox is the “height”?
Would it not be clearer to define the three dimensions of a matchbox as:
length: the tallest dimension, usually parallel to the matches.
width: the dimension that goes 90 degrees of from the length, “cutting the matches”.
depth: the shortest dimension, the one that seems least important (like hidden/obscure)
Oh my God. I see it clear now: just as in the case of a matchbox, the car has a distinct set of terms. Because using the terms “length, width, depth” on a car makes me confused;
length: the longest dimension
width: between the right and left mirror
depth: what?
So, I’m sure now, there should be more than one kind of product, namely:
products laying down, like cars, 4-legged animals (LWH-products)
products standing up, or smaller products that you can toss (LWD-products)
What do you think, guys?

Hello, I found a shorter naming:
“Height products”
vs
“Depth products”
One define a product as either by asking “has this product depth?” (if yes, it’s a depth-product) if not “has it got height?” (if yes, it’s a height-product) else …

… can you use Height attribute for depth as well and just change this on the template view for front-end show?
Yes, probably, but I think the terminology should be changed back-end also (admin page).
Hi @valterekholm
Thanks for reaching out!
Firstly, I apologize for the delayed response.
