    Hey Paul,

I’m just wondering if i really need another plugin i’m using running alongside Shield, and whether Shield is actually offering the protection provided by the other plugin anyway?

The other plugin is called BBQ: Block Bad Queries (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/block-bad-queries/) and is based on the 6G firewall (https://perishablepress.com/6g/).

Is the BBQ plugin offering me additional protection, or is Shield offering the same protection and i can remove BBQ?

    Thanks

We don’t actively dig into the workings of other plugins like BBQ, sorry, so what exactly they have going on we don’t know exactly.

You can of course use both together, but if you get strange, or unpredictable results, try removing 1 to ensure you don’t have any conflicts before contacting the authors. That’s my best advice.

Shield does many other things beyond what BBQ does to protect your sites. It’s much more than just blocking potentially harmful requests.

Hey Paul, sure i understand, just thought i would ask on the off chance you knew about that plugin. I wanted to keep Shield as obviously it does much more than just block harmful requests as you say. I was kinda hoping Shield did what that other plugin did as i was looking to reduce the total plugins on my site.

If you do manage to check out that other plugin the htaccess code here (https://perishablepress.com/6g/) should give you a good idea of what it does.

Very happy with Shield it’s excellent, hence why i was wondering whether the other plugin is needed!
