Cannot Access site from Root Directory

Hi,
I have most probably edited or copied a file I shouldn’t have, so this is more recovery question. I do have some backup files but not in a state to be able to restore the whole directory without breaking something else.
The issue I have is that I cannot access my site from the root mariofitness.co.uk and it only works if you go to mariofitness.co.uk/wp. Previously if you went to mariofitness.co.uk it used to automatically go to mariofitness.co.uk/wp.
My end goal is to get everything to the root directory (using instructions I’ve seen posted elsewhere), but in the short term I would like to make sure that people visiting the root url are able to access my content.
