I am using GoDaddy “Managed WordPress Website Basic”

I activated WP Staging and created a staging site. The process went smoothly

However, when I try to access the staging site, (mysite/staging) I do not see the orange menu banner, just the normal site banner (although the URL “mysite/staging” is displayed)

Attempting to access any of the site menu items takes me to the primary (non-staging) site

I have switched the permalinks on the primary site to “Plain” with no change

    What am I missing?

    Hi @lowercase99
From our experience, GoDaddy Managed WordPress plans usually support only one WordPress installation per account, and they block running a second WordPress site in a subdirectory (including staging sites).

    Here’s a screenshot for reference: https://cln.sh/LycRLgJ6

Because of that, the /staging URL loads visually, but GoDaddy’s server-level rules keep redirecting everything back to the primary site — so the staging site can’t fully load.

To confirm, you can double-check with GoDaddy support and ask them whether subdirectory-based secondary WordPress sites are allowed on your specific plan.

    Thanks,
    Alaa

Thank you for your reply @alaasalama

As you suspected, you are correct

GoDaddy says “All Managed Hosting for WordPress plans (except Basic) have a staging site for each live website. If you have a Basic plan, you must upgrade your account to have a staging site
