I’m trying to locate some malicious code on this site so I stared disabling what I deemed unnecessary plugins.

Now when I try to access wp-admin I get an error message “The page isn’t redirecting properly”

I did find similar issues in this forum but they’re two years old so I don’t assume that the advise I found to modify wp-config still applies.

I should be able to remove the plugin completely and access the whole site. What else do I need do to remove this plugin completely? Or if I have to use it please tell me what to add to the database to re-enable it.

There should be a warning in the plugin page that you can trash your site if you disable the plugin – disabling plugins is a common troubleshooting practice.

We have inexperienced volunteers managing this site who have added lots of cruft and I do not know why they installed this plugin.

    Thank you

This plugin makes no material change to the website, it simply helps allow a WordPress site to be accessible over SSL when CloudFlare’s Flexible SSL is active. Therefore removing the plugin will not remove or limit access to the site as compared to before the plugin was activated.

Try accessing your site over non-SSL.

Also, I appreciate that disabling plugins is common troubleshooting practice, but completely understanding what exactly is on a site and why, and what purpose it serves, forms the foundation of such a strategy. Relying on “inexperienced volunteers” to manage a site is not a sound strategy and no plugin can mitigate that, and certainly not this plugin which is design to facilitate 1 very simple function.
