Hi @socialamyw
This is a good choice as we’re retiring the “guest author with no user account” feature.
Can you explain what you’re doing here, please: “open the author’s settings, and select map user”. Where is this in the plugin?
From the Edit Author screen, there is a field labeled “Mapped User.” That is where I am attempting to make the change. I select the user, and hit save, but the system keeps reverting to the old setting.
Can you share a screenshot, please?
Hmmm – how do I add a screenshot? I see the image block, but it seems to want a URL.

A link to the image should work, this article explains adding screenshots on the forums.

Are you able to access that screenshot?
Hi @socialamyw ,
We still cannot access the screenshot. It looks like you store it on the local storage. If you have saved the screenshot, could you upload it to a Google Drive and pass the URL to us? Additionally, if you use Chrome browser, you can install https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/lightshot-screenshot-tool/mbniclmhobmnbdlbpiphghaielnnpgdp this extension to convert the screenshot to a URL immediately.
Can you give me an update on this, please?
Hi @socialamyw ,
I still cannot replicate the issue that you are facing. Am I doing the update correctly as what you do that triggers the issue? Please take a look at the video below.

I install PublishPress Authors Version 4.9.1, you can try to use this version if yours is different. However, if the issue persists after using the same version, could you try to disable other plugins and remain the PublishPress Authors to see if the issue is affected by external factor or not.
Hi –
I have the latest version of the plugin. I also tried deactivating everything except PublishPress Authors. Then, I tried the action again. The selection still does not stay put. I’m at a loss.
A few messages ago, someone from your team said that you were planning to “retire the “guest author with no user account” feature.” Is that still true? If so, do you have an estimate on the timeframe?
I’m not sure what to do from here, except try another author plugin.
Thanks,
Amy
Hi @socialamyw, sorry, I’m not sure there’s much more we can suggest from outside this website. We’ve run down the list of the steps we can take from here.
With the Pro version of the plugin, we do offer more detailed support that can login to your site and debug issues directly.
