Cannot Communicate with Gateway Error

Been using this plugin on (2) of my sites for several months and then suddenly on May 30 customers reported that they were getting a payment error.
We investigated and used the plugin in “test” mode and everything worked flawlessly.
So we changed to “live” and proceeded a $1.00 transaction and then suddenly got the Gateway error. A quick check in the authorize.net panel found that our test $1.00 transaction was charged every time I pressed the submit order button.
So we found several attempted transactions charged several times because of this error.
Not sure why suddenly the app started doing this and why the entire process works flawlessly when we set to test mode in the authorize.net panel.
We have disabled the app for the time being because we do not want issues with customers receiving multiple charges.
Any help is appreciated.
