Cannot create new post

    1. First off, do you have any previous backups before that issue? If so, just try to restore it and check your site out again. If not, I highly recommend you to back your site up asap for avoinding any futher headaches;
    2. Did you already try to verify whether the post’s in the trash?

    Yes sir!

    I already tried restoring the previous backup. But I had not published any posts since last 2 months.

    But took backups. Today when I wanted to publish one post, I cam across this problem

    When I noticed this problem, I quickly took the backup.

    And now waiting for some effective solution. Please help.

    I observed following things on my website –

    1. When I activated the Classic Editor plugin Version 1.6.7, then I can easily create new posts.
    2. Then I write the post content and then publish it.
    3. When I reopen that published post, it can be edited in Gutenberg environment, if the classic editor plugin it deactivated.
    4. But if I create new post with classic editor plugin activated and save it in draft mode, then deactivate that plugin, I cannot open the draft of the post in Gutenberg environment.

    Kindly help to solve this problem.

    I have two tips:

    • Go to Settings > Permalinks and save them again without changing them.
    • If this does not solve the problem, check under Tools > Site Health to see if anything unusual is reported there.

    Considering you’ve updated the WP installation, its plugins, and themes to latest version.

    I’d recommend you to enable the WP debugging mode to check whether you’ll get any warning/error messages. If so, post them here.

    I checked everything as per your directions.

    1. Just saved permalink structure without changing anything.
    2. Checked site health. Its good. Only it is suggesting to remove inactive plugins.
    3. I removed three of them, but cannot remove under construction plugin, as we may require at any time, if we have to do major updates – because it is a very large university level website. However, this plugin is right now inactive.
    4. WP installation, its plugins, and themes are up to date.
    5. Also I observed one thing. On the left side, the menu “Dashboard” is not visible. Please check this screenshot.
    6. Also after logged in condition, if I type https://rltsc.edu.in/wp-admin/ in browser and hit enter, I see this. But I am the root user with Administrator level privileges.
    7. Now as per your directions started the debug mode.

    Hope this will solve the problem. However, I have not seen the wp_debug file yet after doing some activity on my dashboard.

    When I tried to create new post in dashboard, keeping Classic Editor plugin deactivated, I got this error, in error_log file.

    These entries are from last year, not up to date. Do you also have more recent entries in the error log?

    Try reinstalling the WordPress core files in the backend via Updates. There is a button for this. Only the files are downloaded and stored again, no data is changed. If you are unsure about this, create a backup beforehand.

    Even though I am the root administrator of this website, I cannot go to this link: https://rltsc.edu.in/wp-admin/update-core.php

    It says: Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page. However, I have access to CPanel of this domain.

    So can I do this: Fist download latest copy of WP from ww.wp.xz.cn and then upload the zip file at the root of the domain and then unzip? I think it is the same as updating core files! I am not sure!

    Please guide.
