Cannot Customize Templates
-
I’ve been attempting to override the templates to provide a custom look to the single events page. I’ve tried virtually everything, including reading other support posts, and cannot make this operate. These are the resources I’ve used.

Before writing I’ve tried to learn from the following, also to no avail:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/template-override-is-not-working-for-me/
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/cannot-customize-single-event-comments-or-override-template/
I’ve tried to edit both single-event.php and single-event-blocks.php in the following:
/public_html/wp-content/themes/[my-theme]/tribe/events/
/public_html/wp-content/themes/[my-theme]/tribe/events/single-event/
/public_html/wp-content/themes/[my-theme]/tribe/events/v2
Can someone please point me to some clear, explicit directions on how to override a template when using the block editor and version Version 6.15.12.2? The current help pages have a series of exceptions and some information that suggests using subdirectores versus not etc… and it’s not clear what is needed.
UPDATE: In addition, there is other guidance in the files themselves which does not align:
“Override this template in your own theme by creating a file at [your-theme]/tribe-events/single-event.php”
