cannot edit/create products anymore

    goodday, I have a weird issue that came about 2 updates ago, I was hoping the last updates would resolve it but it hasn’t.
    I cannot edit/create any product, the page becomes blank. The weird is that it’s working on my staging site.
    Any idea how to debug and resolve this?

    Hi @devsaredead

    This kind of problem is usually caused by a conflict with your theme or with another plugin.
     
    The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

    If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

    Could we try a different approach? You see, I have recreated my staging site from scratch and I confirm that I can edit the products. So why a clone of the website is working and the original site not? It’s too weird….

    I understand that you are able to edit the products on the newly created staging site, but on the original site, it is not working, correct?

    I’d like to understand your site properly, please share your System Status Report that you can find via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

    If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

    Thanks for sending the info.

    Does that happen with all products? Or specific products?

    The first step to check if there is a conflict is to switch the site’s theme to a default theme like Storefront, and then disable all plugins except WooCommerce. Check again if the issue persists, try to create/edit a product.

    You can use the Meks Quick Plugin Disabler, to help you remember what plugins you currently have active, so it’s easy to switch them back on.

    Let us know what you find.

    I had done my conflict test on my first step, with no results. I confirm it happens on all products. How can it be that I have no issue on the staging site, which is cloned by the site with the issue?

    On a mobile device sometimes I get a http 500 error and sometimes I can edit the product, but I have cleared the cache and it doesn’t work on my desktop.

    Can you please try to clear your browser’s cache or try another browser, preferably in incognito mode and see if that works?

    The results with other browsers is the same, i.e. it takes over a minute before a product opens, and though sometimes it opens, most of the times I get a white screen. The issue is too randomized to grab it. Occasionally I even get a database connection error. You may suggest something is wrong on the server but it isn’t because the staging site has no issues, and it was created from scratch so it should have carried the issue along with it, but it didn’t.

    Can you please contact your host to see if there are any PHP error logs available? Also, please attach the system status report of the staging site as well.

    This could be due to caching, can you please have your host purge the site cache, and see if that resolves the issue?

    I don’t think clearing the cache at server level helped at all. I still get random product’s white pages. Even creating/duplicating gives me a blank page. Besides, I don’t have the skills to debug via the javascript console 🙁 I’m stuck

    Hi,

    Sorry to hear that the issue persists.

    I cannot edit/create any product, the page becomes blank

    Can you please provide us a screenshot of the developer console once the page becomes blank, to access the Developer Console do a right-click on the page or press F12 on the keyboard and select “Inspect” (this option will show up on most browsers). In the developer tools that will pop up you should see a “Console” tab. From there, please send us a screenshot of what’s being displayed using a tool like https://snipboard.io/.

    Or, you can contact us as well by creating a support request as mentioned previously by @amiralifarooq.
