Cannot Edit Website in Webmatrix at localhost

I recently built a website using a premium theme, and published to a host provider. At some point, I could not edit the site in WordPress at localhost anymore. I therefore decided to delete the install of Webmatrix & related tools, and re-install everything, and created a new WordPress site. Using Web Deploy, I attempted to fill the local db with the files I had previously created, so I could work on the site again, so I downloaded the published site to my local db, with that feature in Web Deploy. Now the website appears when you click the localhost URL, but I cannot edit the website at all in WordPress and I cannot login. Any idea how I can keep all of the work I’ve done on the website AND be able to edit it again?
