cannot email invoice

When I try to email my invoices, I suddenly get this error message: see screenshot
This affects all invoices in the list, including invoices that have already been successfully sent. Even entering a different email address in the pop-up window before sending leads to this error message.
All contacts are assigned an email address.
I can email quotes without any problems.
I use my own SMTP account as the email delivery method.
All test emails are sent without any problems, and sending emails directly from jetpack crm also works.
I have already deactivated all other plugins, one after the other, to avoid a plugin conflict, but the problem still exists.
