Cannot get gallery thumbnails to show up

I updated Minimatica to 1.0.9 today and cannot get the images on my front page to link to the gallery within. I have tried following 3 different “How to Minimatica” tutorials and nothing I do seems to work.

Here’s how I did it in case it matters.
1) Create Category titled “Animals”
2) Create Post Titled “Animals”
3) Select “Animals” under “Categories”
3) Select “Gallery” under “Format”
4) Click “Add Media” and click “Create Gallery”
5) Select images and click “Create a New Gallery”
6) Select update

After visiting my website and click on “Animals” (picture of a parrot) I am taken to a page with half a picture of my parrot and the title “Animals”. I would like for there to be a gallery with the 5 different animals pictures I have uploaded originally. Can anyone help?
