I have a website ( carmenbrooks.com ) that is powered by WordPress. I receive regular database backups for the site but I am unable to login with the username and password that I provided to the person who designed and uploaded the site for me. The user is not recognized.

Is there anyway that I can get access to the dashboard so that I can update my site. I have attempted several times to contact the designer with no success. Thank you.

usually the user name is “admin”
you can reset your password to what you want with one of these methods

if the user is not “admin”, you will need to use host’s phpmyadmin and “browse” the wp_users table to see what user name is

I followed the directions you posted. Admin is not the user name. I accessed my host’s phpmyadmin page and was able to find my user name and I reset the MD5 hash using the directions found here

I am still unable to login @ wordpress.com. Is there anything else that I can do?
