    Hi Support Forum,

I am an infrequent (and challenged…) administrator of my WP website and have not logged in for a while (but was doing so fairly regularly a couple of years back).

Now, when recently try to login using the following:

    onlinepaws.whitelion.asn.au/login

I get the WP username and password screen, to which I enter my usual details.

I get no “username or password is not correct” messages and the screen then reverts to my website without taking me to my admin page….

Am I missing something really simple?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    THX.

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Thx James – that seems (unfortunately) beyond my capability (I am not web builder – just able to maintain/edit some of the graphical and text content..)

I downloaded the phpMyAdmin but don’t know what to do next…

Is there somehow I can get someone to talk me through this?

You’ll find phpMyAdmin in your hosting account’s control panel, you don’t need to download it.

maybe that’s my problem – I don’t even know if I have access to the hosting account or the control panel….

I have only ever logged into the sub-domain:

    onlinepaws.whitelion.asn.au/login

    any suggestions?

    That’s very important to know.

Your hosting provider is where your site lives, it’s who you pay monthly or yearly to keep your site online, and it’s how you control all of that.

In a sense, right now you’re worried about not being able to get into a bedroom, when in reality you can’t even get into the house.

I recommend sorting that out first, and once you’re in your hosting account’s control panel, you’ll have access to phpMyAdmin (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics).

Thanks James – I think that’s the real issue – there appear to have been changes at the host level and the subdomain is probably no longer supported…..which might explain why I can’t login but I am surprised my site is still live….

Thanks for your help – I will contact our company IT helpdesk.
