I have used and appreciated Wordfence for years, but for some reason it is now keeping me from logging into my site.

I can log in normally without Wordfence, but as soon as it is activated, no one can log in. I can enter my username and password, but the blue “Log in” button is greyed out.

I’m using Chrome on macOS, but the same thing happens in other browsers and operating systems. WordPress and all plugins are up to date.

    Help, please?

Hi @technomom, thanks for getting in touch.

It sounds like a new conflict has been introduced, possibly recently with a new plugin installation, or a plugin/theme update if Wordfence has been working as intended before now.

We don’t disable the “Log In” button before or during the initial username/password stage, even on sites that require 2FA. The best test would be to see if this still happens with Wordfence as your only enabled plugin while using a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Five. You can speed this process up a bit by having the login page visible in a private/incognito browser to refresh easily, while being logged into your site in your usual browser window.

If you see the button enabled again, start to reenable your theme and plugins one-by-one to see what causes the issue comes back.

Let us know what you find out,
    Peter.
