Hi Bruce,
Thanks for reaching out. The clearest issue is the loopback test failing with a 403, which means something is stopping your site from connecting back to itself on admin-ajax.php. That’s worth fixing on its own, and since logging in uses those same admin-ajax requests, it may be tied to the login trouble too.
The usual causes are another plugin or a server-level rule on your host. The quickest check is to switch to a default theme (such as Twenty Twenty-Five) and deactivate your other plugins, then reactivate Wordfence and try logging in. If that fixes it, re-enable them one at a time to find the culprit. If it still fails with only Wordfence active, the 403 is coming from a server rule, and your host would need to allow the site to reach itself.
If you still have trouble logging in once the 403 is resolved, could you send a screenshot of the 503 you get at login (attach it here, or email it to wftest @ wordfence . com with your forum username in the subject)? Let me know here once you’ve sent that.
Thanks,
Margaret
Hi Margaret
After deactivating the plugins that I upgraded it seems that Banner Management for woocommerce ver 2.5.3 was the culprit. I’ve created a bug ticket with them. It’s not a “heavy” plugin so I was quite surprised..
Thank you for your assitence.
Hey Bruce,
I’m glad you found the issue, and thank you for letting me know! I’m going to mark this topic resolved.
Cheers,
Margaret
